It is quite possible that you might have joined your current job with a lot of enthusiasm but after a few months, the very same job turned out to be a nightmare that is dragging you down. Many people are often met with the urge of wanting to take a different direction in their career and it is only natural to do so. There could be an array of reasons for wanting to make that change, and one should be brave enough to make that decision when the time comes.
Here are a few signs which indicate that you are stuck in the wrong job and that it’s time for you to start considering more options.
You are not giving your best
If you go to your workplace everyday just for the sake of doing what you are supposed to do, then it is a primary sign that you are not enjoying your work. Also, if you have become the kind of person who is always waiting for the weekend and curses Mondays with extra venom, then you are in the list of people who are least interested in what they do for a living.
You are constantly complaining about your job
If, recently, you have started complaining about the kind of work done in your office, and have constant issues with your colleagues and manager, then this could be the sign that you are not at the place where you should be.
You feel underpaid and overworked
If you feel like you are taking more and more responsibilities for the organisation and still not being appreciated and have not received a well-deserved raise, it could be a reason you should think about quitting your job.
You feel like you are not growing in your career
If you don’t feel challenged by the responsibilities you are given and feel like you are stuck doing mundane work, then this could be a sign that it’s time you consider other options as well.
You are staying just for the sake of security
Many of us have financial responsibilities to take care of, and if that is the only thing which is making you stay, then it is definitely time for you to look for more career options. If you continue working in such a situation, you will eventually get drained in some time as money is not the best metric to base your happiness on.
You feel a pull towards something else
You might be working as a developer in an IT firm but you may, instead, aspire to be an event organiser. If that is the call you hear, then you should take the step but remember to save a certain amount of money in your savings account, so that you could survive in the new profession at least for a few months.
You don’t feel a sense of purpose
Many people face this feeling, however, not at the beginning of their career when they are very excited, but when they have gained some experience. Job satisfaction holds more value than you consider, so, if you feel that you are heading nowhere in your present job, then take the plunge and make a change.

To create a vision or work towards a more fundamental shift, however, I suggest taking much more time for thinking and sensing. If you also wish to channel your intuitive capacities, and be open for emergence, you can do:
* Overnight reflections, e.g., write down an issue before going to sleep and see what new perspectives arise after waking up.
* Intuitive walks – go for an early morning walk and see what catches your attention. See how this resonates.
* Holding the question – place open questions without seeking immediate answers. Then see how the questions evolve or what comes up over the period of a few days.
* Imagination exercises – imagine its Monday morning and you are driving to your new workplace. You park the car and enter the office. How does this feel? What comes up?
However you do it, making the implicit explicit is worth your time. Mapping out your choices on paper will help to clarify your thinking. This will lead to an easier decision.
