Sahitya Akademi Awardee Kuladhar Saikia joins 'Gariyoshi' as editor
The former DGP of Assam, has authored 26 short story collections, six plays, a novel and two telefilms.

GUWAHATI, April 3: Dr Kuladhar Saikia on Thursday joined as the editor of Assamese literary magazine Gariyoshi, marking a significant addition to the State’s literary landscape.
Dr Saikia, a Sahitya Akademi Award winning litterateur and former DGP of Assam, has authored 26 short story collections, six plays, a novel and two telefilms. If a River and Painting of the Sky and Other Stories are two of his short story collections in English. Some of his books have been published by Sahitya Akademi and National Book Trust. He is a regular contributor to literary magazines and national dailies.
A former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Saikia has been invited to prominent literary festivals and represented India at the London Book Fair as a panelist. He holds a PhD from IIT and an MA from Delhi School of Economics, and had earlier taught Economics at the Hindu College under Delhi University.
He has also been a guest speaker at institutions including IIMs, INSEAD (Paris and Singapore) and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. A Katha Prize winner for best fiction, Saikia is a General Council member of Sahitya Akademi. He was a Fulbright Fellow at the Pennsylvania State University and has served as a consultant with the World Bank, Washington.
At present, he is a Distinguished Senior Fellow at the Delhi School of Public Policy and Governance, Delhi University.
