Assam: Congress legislator stages protest in front of Assembly

Guwahati, Dec 22: In order to ensure security to the people of Assam residing in Assam-Meghalaya border areas, Congress legislator Nandita Das on Wednesday staged a sit-in-demonstration in front of the main entrance of the assembly on the third day of the winter session. During the protest, Das also showed placards with the slogan that at no condition Assam will give land to Meghalaya.

Moreover, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday informed the house that from this year Food Corporation of India will procure 10 lakhs MT paddy from the state and the payment against the procurement will be made to the bank accounts of the farmers directly.

Replying to a question of MLA Wajed Ali Choudhary, Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika informed the house that the Centre is yet to release a fund of Rs 399.30 crore related to FMP schemes to Assam.
