Steady early turnout across Cachar amid overcast skies

Voter turnout across the seven Assembly constituencies (LACs) of Cachar district showed a steady and encouraging trend in the early hours of polling, despite overcast skies prevailing across the region.

As per Election Commission of India data available through ECINet, Katigorah recorded the highest turnout at 20.05 per cent by 9 am, closely followed by Borkhola (19.33 per cent) and Sonai (19.06 per cent), indicating a strong start in both rural and semi-urban segments.

Lakhipur registered 18.48 per cent polling in the first two hours, while Udharbond stood at 17.60 per cent. Silchar and Dholai reported comparatively moderate participation at 16.41 per cent and 16.50 per cent respectively, though polling officials expressed confidence that turnout would pick up as the day progresses.

The consistent voter presence at polling stations, even under cloudy conditions, reflects a sustained enthusiasm among the electorate.
