Hailakandi, Oct 18: Hailakandi unit of Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) urged the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to create diplomatic pressure on Bangladesh for the safety and security of Hindu people living there.


In a memory to the Prime Minister through the deputy commissioner of Hailakandi, the general secretary of VHP, Shyamsundar Ravidas condemned the recent attack on Durga Puja pandal in Bangladesh. Memo urged the PM to build up international pressure for UN intervention to protect the 'persecuted' Hindus. Earlier, thousands of people attended a protest rally brought out in the main thoroughfares of Hailakandi town by various Hindu organisations led by VHP.

On the other hand, Lala Idd Milan Samiti has vehemently condemned the attack on Durga idol in Bangladesh. In a statement, the president and General Secretary of the samiti, Joynal Uddin Laskar and Nurul Hussain Mazumdar said that the attack on the idol and temple is totally unwanted and culprits should be booked and punished immediately.
