The Congress leaders led by the District Congress president Pradip Kumar Dey, Borkhola legislator Misbahul Islam Laskar and former Silchar Civic Board chairperson Tamal Kanti Banik urged the Honourable Governor to take immediate action against such incidents in the democratic country so that such instanced are not repeated in the future. "We condemn the incidents of attacks on the Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. Also, we are worried about what has happened in Golaghat district during the Durga Puja this year. We urge upon the honourable Governor to intervene and take action against such instances," the Congress delegation mentioned in the memorandum.

Hence, I request you to immediately intervene in this matter and kindly ensure the safety of the people there," the legislator wrote to the UN Human Rights Council. Also, Dey Purakyastha has written to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urging her to take strong measures against the miscreants and set an example so that these kinds of activities do not happen in the future.
