Guwahati, Jan 2: The Assam government's efforts have yielded positive results as no cases of accidents were reported on the last day of the year.
Taking cognizance of the fact that a lot of road mishaps take place during the last day of the year, the Assam Government had launched a special drive against drunk driving to prevent any kind of untoward incident on New Year's Eve.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Minister for Transport Chandra Mohan Patowary were themselves out on the streets of Guwahati to ensure the safety of the commuters.
It needs to be mentioned here that, in 2020, at least 29 deaths were reported between December 31 and January 1. Compared to last year there were zero cases of accidents this year.
