I, ME, MYSELF

Cherish Assam and work for its people.

Two-time National Award-winning film and stage actor BISHNU KHARGHORIA speaks about his craft.

I was born in the precincts of the Salt Brook Academy at Dibrugarh as it was our house. I remember how, during the Saraswati Puja, groups of us boys would enact skits and plays. After graduating from Kanoi College, I joined State Bank of India. My acting career took off when I came to Guwahati. I have acted in about 60 films and numerous plays. All roles are precious to me – because they offer a chance to portray them as naturally and authentically as possible. The task of interpreting them with integrity falls on my shoulders. When I am assigned a role, I study it from all angles and explore the many possibilities. I try to make my character appealing – so that people are moved.

Technology has impacted the younger generation, but they are still rich in creativity. In the end, I want to say that whatever you do, put in your utmost effort. Cherish Assam and work for its people.
