Kaziranga Lok Sabha MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa exercised his franchise, expressing confidence that the NDA will form the government this time.

Tasa cast his vote at Polling Station No. 260, Garmur Dulia Gaon Primary School in Jorhat. After voting, he said that the BJP-led alliance would form the government with “90-plus seats.”

Garima Saikia Garg casts her vote

Assamese cultural icon Zubeen Garg's wife and sister cast their votes in the Assam Assembly polls and urged people to elect a government of their choice while hoping for expeditious delivery of justice in the death of the popular singer.

Garima Saikia Garg, who was recently hospitalised, was accompanied by her sister-in-law Palme Borthakur as they voted in Dispur constituency in Guwahati.

"It is our duty to vote, and that is why, though I am unwell, I have come to exercise my franchise," Garg said.

Garg's sister Borthakur added, "We all have cast our votes. I urge all to cast vote as alert citizens so that we can have a good government of our choice."

An international delegate under the IEVP was also seen preparing these local dishes.

Poll official found dead in Sonitpur

A poll official was found dead in Assam’s Sonitpur district amid the ongoing Assembly elections.

The deceased, Deben Horo (45), was deployed as the second polling officer in the Naduar constituency. He was on duty at Polling Station No. 230, Dolapani LP School.

According to officials, Horo was found unconscious in his bed on Thursday morning. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where doctors declared him dead.

The exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed, though preliminary assessment suggests a possible underlying medical condition.

Polling at the station was not affected, with voting commencing at the scheduled time of 7 AM. A reserve polling personnel was deployed in his place.

Poll Violence:

Third incident of poll-related violence has been reported from the Merapani Kalyanpur polling station in the Golaghat Assembly constituency.

Allegations have been made against Congress worker Dhiren alias Mukut Haloi for attacking BJP booth president Sabin Kurmi. The incident triggered tension in the area.

According to ground reports, the Congress worker allegedly attacked the BJP booth president at a location close to the polling station while voting was underway.

Following the incident, Sabin Kurmi reportedly retaliated by assaulting Mukut Haloi. The scuffle led to a brief period of tension at the polling station.

Meanwhile, upon receiving information, Merapani Police and security personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Both political sides have levelled allegations against each other. Eventually, both individuals were detained by Merapani Police.
